The ROOTS Online Fellowship, in partnership with the Climate Action Against Disinformation (CAAD), invites young changemakers from the Global South to tackle climate disinformation through research and storytelling. Running from July to December 2025, this program empowers grassroots leaders to investigate and address disinformation impacting their communities, with a chance to present findings at COP30 in Belem.
Program Overview
From 7 July 2025, fellows will engage in localized research projects, supported by CAAD and ROOTS mentors. The fellowship begins with a week-long online training to build research skills and foster connections among participants. Fellows will:

Conduct investigations into climate disinformation.

Receive one-on-one mentorship from disinformation experts.

Publish reports on CAAD and ROOTS platforms, amplified via social media (Instagram, LinkedIn).

Participate in an online retreat to learn research methods and media skills.

Present findings at COP30’s CAAD hub.
Draft reports are due by 30 September 2025, with final versions completed by 24 October 2025.
Eligibility and Application
The fellowship prioritizes grassroots leaders from Global South countries or diaspora communities in the Global North with experience in climate or democracy-related organizing and storytelling. Academic credentials are not required—curiosity, dedication, and a compelling story are valued. Applicants must have functional proficiency in English and/or Spanish.
The program champions inclusivity, encouraging applications from women, people of color, and those who may not meet every criterion but are committed to making an impact.
