Description

Managed by YOUNGO’s pool-badge system, established in 2018, the allocation process ensures fairness and transparency. While the exact number of badges is still being finalized with YOUNGO partners, applications are open early to allow thorough preparation and review. The selection prioritizes gender balance, regional diversity, and equitable representation, particularly encouraging applicants from marginalized genders, the Global South, and climate-vulnerable regions.

Who Should Apply?

This call targets youth engaged in climate advocacy, especially those with experience in YOUNGO or broader UN climate initiatives. Applicants will be evaluated based on their:

  • Understanding of the UNFCCC system.

  • Experience in youth-led or environmental work.

  • Proposed contributions to SB62.

To ensure a fair review, adhere strictly to application word limits, as exceeding them may impact your evaluation.

Key Responsibilities

Selected participants must independently cover travel, accommodation, food, and related costs, as no financial support is provided. A formal accreditation letter will be issued to aid visa applications, but all logistics, including visa processing, are the participant’s responsibility. Badge holders will be accredited under an NGO and must comply with UNFCCC civil society guidelines. Familiarity with these guidelines is essential, as individuals are accountable for any violations, not YOUNGO or its affiliates. Legal obligations to the badge-issuing NGO and relevant authorities also apply.

Why It Matters

Securing a YOUNGO badge for SB62 offers unparalleled access to the UNFCCC negotiation process. Participants will:

  • Advocate for youth priorities on a global stage.

  • Gain insights into international climate policy.

  • Build networks with activists, experts, and policymakers.

  • Enhance skills in diplomacy, advocacy, and policy engagement.

This experience empowers young leaders to influence discussions, forge partnerships, and amplify climate action in their communities.

How to Apply

Applications are open via the designated Google Form. Complete all sections carefully and submit promptly, as the deadline approaches. This is your chance to represent youth voices at one of the world’s foremost climate platforms.
