MS International Federation McDonald Fellowships 2026 (up to $55,000)

Applications open for the Ms international Federation McDonald fellowships 2026.The McDonald Fellowship provides early-career researchers studying multiple sclerosis in low- and middle-income countries the opportunity to conduct work at an international research institution. During this time, fellows can either acquire specialized skills or contribute to collaborative research initiatives. After completing the fellowship, awardees are expected to apply their enhanced knowledge and professional connections to advance MS research and/or improve patient care in their home countries.

Fellowship Funding Structure
The award provides a two-year grant of 55,000 EUR annually, disbursed to the host institution for allocation to the fellow.
Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet all following requirements:
– Hold a postgraduate degree(minimum MSc, PhD/MD preferred) in a multiple sclerosis-related discipline
– Be a citizen of a low- or middle-income country (as classified by the World Bank’s income categories)
– Conduct research specifically relevant to multiple sclerosis

Candidates should also be in one of these situations 

.Current Location:
– Must be working or studying in a low- or middle-income country (as classified by the World Bank) at the time of application.

.Recent Projects Abroad:
– If working or studying in another country, the project must have commenced within the six months preceding the application.

Du pré Grant Recipients:
– Individuals studying abroad under an MSIF-supported Du Pré grant project are also eligible.

Application

Define your research focus
Identify your specific project and field of interest in multiple sclerosis.

• Finalize host agreement
Contact and secure approval for your project proposal with your host supervisor (in a laboratory or clinical setting

– Upon submission by the applicant, the host institution will be notified to provide a supporting statement through the same application platform.

– Applicants must arrange for three reference letters to be submitted directly to ms international
