Programme Overview

This programme places interns within the International Staff, International Military Staff, or NATO agencies, across disciplines including political affairs, security, communications, innovation, human resources, finance, science, technology, infrastructure, and business support. Benefits include:

  • Monthly Stipend: €1,286 (adjusted annually for inflation).

  • Travel Support: Round-trip economy travel up to €1,200 (flight, train, or car reimbursement).

  • Paid Leave: 15 days of paid vacation over six months.

  • Learning Opportunities: Comprehensive onboarding, monthly briefings, networking with NATO professionals, and visits to institutions like the European Parliament.

Programme Goals

  • Provide practical exposure to NATO’s operations and deepen understanding of its mission.

  • Enhance NATO’s work with fresh academic and technical perspectives.

  • Promote workforce diversity and awareness of NATO’s role in member countries.

Eligibility

  • Age: Minimum 21 years.

  • Citizenship: Nationals of NATO member states (Albania, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Montenegro, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Türkiye, UK, US).

  • Education: Enrolled in the third year of university or graduated with a bachelor’s/master’s degree within the last 12 months.

  • Language: Fluent in English or French (both preferred); additional languages are an asset.
