The COP29 Youth-led Climate Forum (YCF), held during the 29th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29) from 11–22 November 2024 in Baku, Azerbaijan, invites passionate youth to apply as speakers or moderators for its thematic sessions. Aligned with Article 57 of the Sharm el-Sheikh Implementation Plan and Paragraph 65 of the Glasgow Climate Pact, this forum amplifies youth voices in climate policymaking. Applications are open until 30 October 2024, 22:00 UTC.

Forum Overview

The YCF empowers young leaders to shape climate policy through five thematic sessions in Week 1 and a headline event in Week 2. Session schedule:

  • 13 November: New Collective Quantified Goal on Climate Finance (NCQG)

  • 14 November: Advocating for Health and Educational Equity: The Role of Children and Youth in Climate Action

  • 15 November: Youth Perspectives on Sustainable Agriculture, Food Security, and Water Resource Management

  • 15 November: NDC 3.0

  • 16 November: Climate Mobility and Loss and Damage

  • 18 November: Headline Event

Why Apply?

The YCF offers:

  • A platform to influence global climate policy at COP29, the “Finance COP,” which secured $300 billion annually for climate finance by 2035.

  • Opportunities to engage with policymakers, experts, and youth activists.

  • Visibility for innovative ideas on climate finance, health, education, agriculture, and mobility.

Eligibility

  • Age: Youth aged 18–35 with a demonstrated commitment to climate action.

  • Access: Applicants must have Blue Zone accreditation for COP29.

  • Commitment: Ability to prepare for and participate in assigned sessions.

  • Note: This is a self-funded opportunity; participants cover their own travel and accommodation.
