The HEY (Human Rights Education for Youth) Online Course on Ethical and Inclusive Sport, hosted by the North-South Centre (NSC) of the Council of Europe in partnership with the European Union, EPAS, African Union Sports Council, and OIF, invites youth aged 18–30 to champion ethical sport practices. This fully funded online programme, running in June 2025, equips participants to promote human rights and integrity in sports. Applications are open until 15 June 2025, 11:59 PM GMT/UTC.

Programme Overview

This course empowers youth to advocate for ethical and inclusive sports through:

  • Knowledge: Understanding human rights frameworks in sport.

  • Skills: Practical tools for governance, advocacy, and activism.

  • Insights: Analysis of global and regional sport ecosystems.

  • Certification: A certificate for completing 80% of the course.

  • Follow-Up: Opportunities to apply for in-person Tutor Training (ToT) to become a certified HEY tutor, replicate training locally, and access networking and funding opportunities.

  • Sport and human rights: legal frameworks and values.

  • Governance and stakeholders in sport.

  • Integrity challenges: discrimination, abuse, corruption, doping.

Eligibility

The programme targets youth (18–30) from Council of Europe Member States, African, and Middle Eastern countries, particularly:

  • Civil society representatives using sport for social change.

  • Athletes, coaches, volunteers, or sports event organisers.

  • Students or professionals in sports management or governance.

  • Youth advocates, influencers, or journalists passionate about ethical sport.

  • Language Requirement: Fluency in French.

Selection Criteria:

  • Active engagement in youth, sport, or human rights initiatives.

  • Commitment to promoting ethical and inclusive sport practices.

  • Dedication to completing the course and collaborating with peers.

  • Gender and geographic balance will be prioritised.
